Ermioni

Nestled amphitheatrically at the southeastern edge of Argolida, Ermioni preserves its traditional charm and natural beauty. The northern port serves as the main commercial center of the town. To the south, Mandrakia, recognized as a traditional settlement, acts as Ermioni's secondary harbor, where sailing boats and yachts are moored, and offers numerous dining and drinking spots. Ascend the ancient Pronos hill to marvel at the town's "Cycladic" scenery and take in the breathtaking view from the chapel of Saint Ermioni. For swimming, there are many choices, from expansive beaches to small, sheltered coves.

Koilada Village

Koilada is a picturesque seaside village in the Argolida region, located in Ermionida, just 3 km west of Kranidi. Essentially, it serves as the port for Kranidi. Until the 1950s, its harbor connected Ermionida with Nafplio before the Epidaurus-Kranidi road was built. Koilada is known for its beautiful beaches near the settlement, attracting many visitors during the summer. It is particularly famous for the Franchthi Cave, located directly across from its harbor, where some of the most significant prehistoric findings in Greece were discovered. Near Koilada lies the island of Koronida, owned by the Livanos shipping family.  Historically, the coastal village of Koilada was known as Masitas in ancient times. It is also the birthplace of the politician Giorgos Toussas.

Franchthi Cave

Situated in the Bay of Koilada, Franchthi Cave stands out as one of the most significant caves in Europe, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean. This natural and historical marvel stretches 150 meters deep and has an entrance that is 30 meters wide. It is famous for housing the oldest evidence of human activity in the Ermionida region, as well as the oldest complete human skeleton discovered in Greece. The cave is accessible on foot from the port of Koilada.

Katafiki Gorge

Katafiki Gorge, located 5 km from Ermioni, is renowned for its rich vegetation, caves, rock formations, and the chapel of Saint Nicholas the New Martyr, celebrated on May 9th. This gorge is wrapped in many legends, including one about a cave that leads to Hades and the mythical Centaur's home. It's a magical path ideal for walking, with pine trees and running streams. For contemplation and reflection, visit the Byzantine chapel of Saint Nicholas, built in 1740 with parts of medieval walls. Then, hike to the highest point to reach the "Devil's Fork."

Didyma Caves

Behind the village of Didyma, a remarkable geological phenomenon has formed. The ground has collapsed in two areas, creating vast openings that look like volcanic craters at first sight. However, these dolines in Argolida were caused by the subsidence of the soil due to underground water from the mountain. The Large Cave is situated at the base of the Didyma mountain range, while the Small Cave is found in the plain, both clearly visible from a distance. The rocky walls of the smaller cave house two chapels, Saint George and the Transfiguration of the Savior. Additionally, the area is distinguished by the plentiful and sizable caper plants growing abundantly.
